GL Journal Source Conversion
August 9, 2024
- In Universe, general ledger transactions are posted from various systems and are grouped by a journal source code that relates to accounting concepts and practices.
- From example, when an invoice is posted (AP030 - DB expense/other, CR Accounts Payable), the journal (GL.SRC.ID) is AP for Accounts Payable journal.
- When is paid and included on a check that is written (AP080 – DB Accounts Payable, CR Cash), the journal (GL.SRC.ID) is CD for Cash Disbursements journal.
- In Multidev, there is a similar organization of transaction by JRNLID.
- The Multidev system is different than Universe and what is available and in use in Multidev is being accepted as is.
- While use of the GL.SRC.ID in GL.DETAIL has limited daily value
- GL.SRC (account level, not transaction level detail) by GL.SRC.ID is a more common research/analytical/reporting tool.
- That said, in order to create Universe GL.DETAIL records in the data warehouse for consolidated reporting with Multidev GLSBTRANS data, a conversion of Universe GL.SRC.CD to Multidev JRNLID is needed.
- Per this table, it should be noted that a number of Universe GL.SRC.CDs are not available in Multidev.
- Additionally, not all the GL.SRC.CDs are used in Universe.
